TGIF
TGIF would raise quarterly fees by $2.50 for every student at CPP, undergraduate or graduate, for a fund which will award students with money to pursue whatever sustainability project they are passionate about. How cool is that?
The goal of TGIF is to enable and empower Cal Poly Pomona students to take an active role in making CPP a leader in sustainability. TGIF will provide much needed funding for multi-disciplinary projects that promote environmental awareness and increase sustainability on campus. TGIF gives priority to projects with a student leadership component, and all projects must have student involvement.
The referendum needs to be first passed by various campus administrations, then it will go to a student vote in May.
We at the Green Team would be glad to answer any questions you may have about the fund itself, or how you can get involved to help us campaign.
Many other schools have passed TGIF, or something like it. Cal Poly SLO is currently petitioning for TGIF. In fact, The California Student Sustainability Coalition (CSSC), of which the Green Team is an official chapter, backs the campaign at CPP, as it has for many other universities.
Please check out the CSSC's website at www.sustainabilitycoalition.org for more info on TGIF and other campuses which have instated it.
